16 fall ill during fitness test for Jharkhand excise constable jobs

RANCHI: Sixteen candidates fell sick on the second day of the Jharkhand excise constable physical efficiency test, a 10 km run in an hour, at five of the six centres in the state on Wednesday, reports Sanjay Sahay. They were treated for vomiting and uneasiness at medical camps at the test centres and local hospitals and thereafter released, said a source.

Six aspirants fainted on the track at Jharkhand Jaguar in Ranchi. Five of them recovered after administration of oxygen at the medical camp. One candidate, Suraj Kumar from Bihar's Bhagalpur, was rushed to Ranchi district hospital.

Two fell sick at Sahibganj, and one each at Ranchi smart city and Giridih centres. They need hospitalisation, a source said, but police trashed the claim.

Six aspirants undergoing tests at Hazaribag centre needed hospitalisation. Hazaribagh civil surgeon Dr S P Singh said a five-member medical team promptly attended to the sick and later they were allowed to complete their 10 km run. Jharkhand Jaguar SP said that a few candidates were sent to Sadar hospital for treatment.

Additional DGP R K Mallick said, "I have asked all the centres to give reports on hospitalisation each day."
