15 yrs on, Lawalong-Panki road in Chatra awaits repair

Chatra: The Lawalong-Panki (Palamu) road, which is riddled with potholes, is affecting the commute for 25,000 people residing in different villages located around this stretch. The villagers said this road was not repaired after it was constructed some 15 years ago. The reason is that this stretch passes through the Lawalong wildlife sanctuary and any repair work would require forest clearance. Sources said the rural works department had floated a tender in 2020 for the 35-km road construction at Rs 25 crore. However, the work was cancelled as the department hasn’t received the NOC from the forest department.

Road repair work starts in 2 areas

Construction of a road in Sunder Nagar area has begun in Ludhiana. The Kirpal Nagar road will also be reconstructed under the project, which is being carried out at a cost of Rs 84 lakhs. Apart from benefiting residents and the hosiery industry, the MLA has emphasized the importance of ensuring the quality of the work. Other cities such as Nagpur and Panchkula are also facing issues with road repairs and maintenance. The road reconstruction work in Model Town Gole Market in Ludhiana has been delayed due to rainfall.

Pkl MC starts repairing potholed roads

The civic body in Panchkula, India has started recarpeting and patch work on city roads after councillors complained about their poor condition. The MC commissioner has assured that potholes will be repaired within a week. The work includes filling potholes and recarpeting various roads in the city. The repair of roads was delayed due to rain, but now the work has begun and all roads will be made free of potholes in a week.

The road repair work had become a major issue, with an activist raising concerns and the Punjab State Human Rights Commission demanding justification for the delay.
