The state tourism department is training 1,000 youngsters from across Jharkhand in hospitality management under the Centre's 'Hunar Se Rozgar Tak' (HSRT), a skill development scheme.

Ranchi: The state tourism department is training 1,000 youngsters from across Jharkhand in hospitality management under the Centre's 'Hunar Se Rozgar Tak' (HSRT), a skill development scheme.
The youth being trained under the programme, which is in collaboration with Frontline Global Services, will be absorbed in the tourism department and hospitality sector.

Over 180 youth have already received training under the scheme and 100 have been placed with various tourism department facilities.
Though the scheme is fully funded by the Union government, Jharkhand has allocated Rs 1.8 crore for the current fiscal during which 1,800 youth will be trained. "We are planning to train 1,800 youth by March 31. The HSRT programme has assured placement scheme and the training partner is liasoning with industry to secure placements of the youth," said Suchitra Sinha, director, tourism department.
The number is a huge jump from 1,500 youth who were imparted training under the initiative during 2012-2015 period (Averaging just 500 youth per year) when Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation was helming the project.
"We had been running the scheme after it was handed over to JTDC (Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation) in 2012. Over 1,500 youth were trained, all of whom had successfully been placed in various hotels in and outside Jharkhand, which is Since government is bullish on accelerated development of tourism sector in Jharkhand, the scheme has been taken over by tourism department in the current fiscal," said Sunil Kumar, director, JTDC.
Under the scheme, youth screened by mobilisation teams of Frontline Global Services, hired by department of tourism, are being trained in Food & Beverage Service and Housekeeping Utility segment.
"Out of our initial batches totalling 180 students, 100 students have managed to secure jobs in branded food chains like KFC in Gurgaon and Noida in addition to various Jharkhand based hotels. We are actively talking to hospitality chains to national and state level hotel chains to ensure placement of the students," said Heena Kumari, project head, HSRT.
