Chatra: Police have solved the mystery of Binita Devi’s murder, the body of whom was found buried in a forest with the arrest of the accused from Mumbai on Friday. Simaria SDPO Ashok Priyadarshi confirmed the arrest of one Upendra Yadav, who admitted to the killing of Binata, a 30-year-old widow, on August 9.Priyadarshi said Binita received Rs 4 lakh as compensation from the government after the death of her son in a snakebite. She gave the money to Upendra as a loan and when she started pressuring him to return the money, the accused killed her.The police officer said Binita, a resident of Masuria village, was murdered and her body was buried in the Bankheta forest of Gangpur village in Giddhaur. Police got information about the murder on August 15 after which they recovered the body and filed an FIR under sections 302, 201 and 34 of the IPC.Earlier, SP Rakesh Ranjan constituted a team led by the Giddhaur police station officer-in-charge Kanhaiya Kumar Yadav to investigate the murder case.Taking the help of the police technical cell, the team led by Yadav collected evidence against Upendra Yadav, who was at large since the murder of Binita.Yadav then traced Upendra Yadav to Mumbai and was arrested from there. When brought to Chatra and interrogated, he admitted to killing Binita. Yadav said Binita was seeking the Rs 4 lakh back from him, which angered Upendra, who took her to the forest and killed her with a shovel. Police have recovered the shovel and the bike used in the murder after Yadav’s confession. Priyadarshi said Binita and Yadav had a long conversation on August 8 and had a heated argument as well. On August 9, he took her to the forest, killed her and buried her there. Yadav then left for Goa on August 14.
