BOKARO: A youth died and two others were injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling in came in contact with a hanging live electric wire near Budha Baba Mandir under Chas police station on Monday. The vehicle with 10 youths was returning from a kanwariya seva shivir.
While seven youths managed to jump out of the auto and escaped Rohit Kumar Bauri (18) died and Vijay Kandu (17) and Laxman Bauri (18) suffered burns.
The two injured were admitted at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). Laxman is in ICU.
'Auto brushed against 11k volt wire' Soon after the incident, Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan visited the hospital and met the relatives of the injured and deceased. Chas police station inspector Santosh Kumar said they are in process of lodging a complaint in this connection. Resident of the area Manoj Kumar said the roof of the auto brushed against an 11,000 volt wire, resulting in the accident.
Police said, "The 10 were returning in Barkulhi in Chas after serving at Chidka Baba Kanwariya Seva Shivir at Bedani turn of Pindrajora." The incident occurred around 500 metre before their houses.
Vikki Rajwar who had a narrow escape after jumping from the auto said, "As the upper part of auto touched the 11,000 volt wire, electricity passed through the vehicle. Somehow, some of us jumped out. Later, electricity tripped." Executive engineer of the electricity department S B Tiwari said a three-member team has been formed to investigate the incident. Social worker Mukesh Rai said the department had already been informed about the dangling wire but no steps were taken to fix it.
On July 29, a tajia being carried in a Muharram procession under Petarwar police station touched a live wire leading to the death of four people and injury of 10.
