Rajkot: A resident of Jasdan was arrested on Friday for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old youth to death in Lati plot locality of Jasdan in Rajkot district on Thursday evening.
Police said the accused, Sanjay Makwana (24) along with his aides — Kiran Makwana and Anil Makwana —, had allegedly stabbed to death Kiran Parmar over old enmity.
“Kiran and Parmar, who were classmates in Jasdan Industrial Training Institute (ITI), lived in the same locality of Ambedkarnagar in Jasdan.
They used to have frequent fights over trivial issues. Nursing a grudge against Parmar, Kiran and his aides decided to kill him,” said N H Joshi, sub-inspector with Jasdan police station.
On the fateful day, Parmar along with his cousin Jaideep had gone to the ITI. After the classes were over, Kiran called up Parmar on his phone and asked him to come to Lati plot where both fought with each other. Kiran and his aides had come armed with the intention to kill Parmar, and hence they attacked him with knives. When Jaideep intervened, he, too, was attacked.
Parmar after being stabbed four to five times, was rushed to Jasdan Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. His family members, who refused to accept his body, ultimately claimed the body and performed the last rites after the police arrested Sanjay.
Meanwhile, the police have intensified manhunt for other accused Kiran and Anil.
Parmar’s grandfather Gordhan Parmar is an ex-member of Jasdan municipality, while his father Ramesh Parmar works as a driver.
