Woman, son accused of killing dog in Jamnagar

RAJKOT:

Animal rights

activists have approached police in Jamnagar against a mother-son duo for killing a four-month-old street dog that had barked at them.

According to an application submitted by one Shivpal Zala with B-Division police of Jamnagar, Jyoti Chauhan and her son Vivek Chauhan, residents of Vivekanand Society in Navagam Ghed area, killed the dog on June 20 night because the dog had barked at them. He demanded FIR against the duo as, according to him, the

and her son had killed 3-4 dogs in the same manner.

The complainant claimed that the dog was smashed on the road by the duo. “The duo also threatened to frame me in a false case,” said Zala. “But I took signatures of neighbours and witnesses and submitted an application to the police, who are yet to file an FIR in the case.”

Another animal rights activist, Ketan Trivedi, said, “Whenever we go to police station we hear them saying that they have staff crunch to investigate cases of cruelty towards animals.”

Additional police commissioner, Jamnagar, U R Patel said, “We have received the application and are investigating the case. Action will be taken according to the law.”

In March, a dog was killed in Barvara village of

Junagadh district

where police arrested three persons for cruelty towards animal.
