Surat barber steals Rs 3.5L from his salon, caught from Rajkot airport

Rajkot: A barber was arrested on Saturday while he was in the process of catching a flight to Delhi from Rajkot airport after committing a theft of Rs 3.5 lakh from the salon where he used to work.

Police said Abhishek Saini (20), a native of Jahanabad in Bihar, had cleared security checking at the Rajkot airport and was about to board the flight to Delhi when he was caught by the police.

“After committing the theft in his salon at City Light locality in Surat, Saini hired a car to go from to Jamnagar from where he booked on-line flight tickets to Delhi and thereon to Patna. However, after we received a tip-off, we rushed to the Rajkot airport and nabbed him before he could board the flight,” said an investigating official.

During interrogation, Saini confessed of committing the theft from the salon owned by Pradeep Salve, as Salve allegedly had not released his salary. The accused also purchased a new smart phone for Rs 12,000 from the stolen money.
