SPG, BJP workers clash in Visnagarin Visnagar

Palanpur: Sardar Patel Group (SPG) members clashed with BJP workers at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) office in Visnagar, Mehsana, late on Sunday night.

According to complaint filed by Mehsana BJP VP Rupal Patel, his car was smashed by a mob of 30 people including three who were identified as Jignesh Patel, Paresh Patel and Ravi Patel. The loss is estimated to be Rs 80,000, Rupal said.

Saffron party had organized a meeting in the APMC office under Rupal's chairman ship when a mob including the trio rushed to the venue and stormed the meeting hall asking whereabouts of APMC chairman Rishikesh Patel (Patel is also a BJP MLA from Visnagar). Rupal reportedly replied that chairman will be available on Wednesday.

They wanted to express their anger over sacking of an employee by chairman. tnn

According to sources, Jignesh Patel is SPG president of Visnagar, while two others were members of the group. According to Rupal his car's glass was smashed by Ravi Patel.

Police have registered the case under various section of Indian Penal Code including assault and damage to property.
