RAJKOT: When a majestic lion appears on the road, all vehicles must stop, regardless of one's urgency. This is a strict protocol that everyone travelling through the greater Gir region must adhere to.
Recently, this scenario unfolded when a mature male lion positioned himself on the national highway in Amreli district.
Whilst lions typically inhabit forest areas and village pathways, this particular sighting occurred on the Bhavnagar Somnath national highway in broad daylight.
Although motorists are accustomed to encountering lions on regular roads, their presence on a busy national highway, with constant vehicular movement and horn-blowing, is rather unusual.
A bystander captured this incident on their mobile phone, and the footage subsequently spread across social media platforms. Sources indicate that this event took place near Dudhala village of Jafrabad taluka in Amreli district.
The video shows vehicles waiting patiently as the lion leisurely walks along the road, seemingly unbothered by the waiting traffic. Eventually, the lion moved off the road, allowing the vehicles to proceed with their journey.
