Patidar leader’s firm alleges IP infringement

Rajkot: Patel Brass Works, the company owned by influential Patidar leader and Khodaldham Temple Trust, Naresh Patel, has lodged a complaint alleging that five people infringed upon its intellectual property by copying the designs.According to the complaint lodged with Lodhika police station on Tuesday, a company manager Kaushik Surela named five people including a former employee who allegedly copied the designs and drawings of the products and gave them to another accused Chintan Patel. The company's logo was also removed from the documents. This has resulted in a loss of Rs 40 crore to the company, the complaint claims. Along with Amlani and Patel, police booked Amit Lakad, Vivek Kamani and Naman Jain. They have been booked under relevant sections of IPC, the Copyright Act, and the Information Technology Act.The company operates from Metoda GIDC near the city.
