Rajkot: A retired non-commissioned officer of the Indian Navy has submitted an application to the

Bhavnagar

superintendent of police (SP) alleging that some miscreants were threatening him to vacate his 80-year-old ancestral house where his father lives.
In his application, the retired officer

Manan Bhatt

said he had served the country during Kargil war and Operation Parakram
“After retirement, I am still fighting battles against the enemies of our nation. This has put me on their hit list,” he stated and added that he has been getting threats on social media and phone. He was working in the engineering department of the navy.
On May 10, he said, some miscreants or land mafias brought down the house adjacent to his in Valiya’s chawl near Jail Road. This resulted in damage to the roof of his house. Bhatt’s father has been living in this property for the last 80 years while

Bhatt

lives in Rajkot where he works with a bank.
Bhatt also alleged that these so-called land mafias are bringing down properties on the left and right side of his father’s house even as they are owners of chawl. He requested police to register an FIR and take action against the miscreants.
“There are only 10 tenants remaining and others have already left. My neighbors have been approaching the local police station for the last one-and-a-half year but no FIR has been registered,” he alleged.
When contacted, SP Ravindra Patel said “I have received the complaint and we are investigating the matter. The police’s duty is to maintain law and order and for property dispute complaints, they need to approach the municipal corporation or other appropriate forum.”
