Morbi woman singer raped at knifepoint

, was raped by a resident of Maliya-Miyana in Morbi district. Though the crime was committed on June 19, the complaint in this connection was lodged on Tuesday night.

Police said the accused, Saleem Miyana, had raped the survivor at knife point and also threatened to kill her if she complained about the incident.

“Miyana had taken the survivor in his car, promising to get her a singing programme in Maliya-Miyana. However, instead of Maliya-Miyana, Miyana took her to Gungan village of Morbi taluka and committed the crime in the car,” said an official from Morbi taluka police station.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for Miyana who has gone absconding after the lodging of the complaint against him.
