(24) over an affair of the deceased with a woman in their family. Bones of Jairaj, who had been missing since April 2, were recovered by the police from the drain after the accused confessed to the crime, added police.

In his police complaint, Jairaj’s elder brother Bharat stated that

Jairaj

had left home on April 2 evening and did not return. He and his family searched and waited for Jairaj to return. But when he did not return till Tuesday night, he approached the police and filed a missing person complaint.

According to police, Jairaj allegedly had an affair with the wife of Dilu’s cousin. Earlier, Dilu had urged Jairaj to end the relationship but he refused. Both, Dilu and Jairaj, had quarrelled over the issue in the village market too.

Police sub-inspector of Liliya police station D C

Sakariya

said that on April 2, Dilu had called Jairaj near his farm to talk about the issue. “The duo entered into an argument. As Jairaj was adamant about continuing the relationship, Dilu stabbed him to death. Dilu called his father and they both burned the body using dry grass on the farm and threw remains in the drain,” said Sakariya.

During the search for Jairaj, police came to know about the dispute between Jairaj and Dilu. They detained Dilu, who admitted to killing Jairaj, said police. Dilu had suffered an injury on his hand during a scuffle with Jairaj and had got treatment at a private hospital of Gariyadhar town of Bhavnagar district.
