RAJKOT: The
Jamnagar police on Friday cracked the murder of an unidentified woman, whose naked body was found near the city on September 14.
Investigation revealed that the arrested accused Jusab Abbas Kakkad had allegedly raped the woman in an unconscious state after bludgeoning her with a stone. The woman had resisted the sexual advances made by the accused.
The body was spotted by some locals of Dhunvav village, 8 km from Jamnagar city. The woman, who is yet to be identified, often sat near Dudheshar Mahadev temple in the village for begging. Police said that the woman’s body had severe head injuries and dragging marks.
Police got to know from locals that a man on a bike had taken the woman with him on September 14. Investigations led them to Kakkad, who was caught from some distance near the crime spot.
Kakkad confessed that he had taken the woman on the pretext of giving her food. He took her to an isolated spot and tried to rape her. When the woman resisted, he thrashed her and then bludgeoned her head with a stone.
“Kakkad raped her after she fell unconscious,” said J P Sodha, investigating officer, Panchkosi B-division police station.
