Four of a family, student killed in head-on collision

Palanpur: Voting day turned tragic for five persons who were killed as two cars collided head-on near Mandali Patiya, some 25km from Mehsana, on Thursday.

The deceased include four members of Bhavsar family settled in Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad. They were identified as Hardik Bhavsar (35), his mother Hansa (60) father Ishwarbhai (65) and his brother’s nine-year-old daughter Jheel.

Bhavesh Patel, a 21-year-old student of Wakhariya College in Kalol, was also among the victims. While Patel was returning after voting in Ranipura locality of Mehsana, the Bhavsar family was on its way to vote in their native Motap village near Modhera, police sub-inspector of Langnaj police station A A Barot said.

Bhavesh’s friend Vikram was injured in the accident and admitted to a hospital in Mehsana. The accident happened at around 10 am opposite Asopalav hotel on the highway.
