AMRELI: Four people were arrested by Local Crime Branch (LCB) officials with fake currency notes worth Rs 1.75 lakh on Thursday. The notes were in the denomination of Rs 100.
The arrest led to busting of a major racket in which fake currencies were being funnelled into the system here at Amreli from Surat.
According to LCB officials, Mansukh Dhanji, Lalji Bachu, Ghanshyam Patel and Ranchhod Koli were arrested with the notes.

Police also seized a computer, printer, cutter and papers used for printing currencies.
"Mansukh and Lalji were nabbed near Pipava village of Savarkundla taluka when they were on their way to sell 1,413 fake notes of Rs 100 worth Rs 1,41,300," said LCB inspector, B P Sonara.
"The accused said they were going to sell the notes at 40 per cent commission rate and they had acquired the consignment from Ghanshyam Patel of Sawarkundla and Ranchhod Koli of Pipava," Sonara added.
"Following this, we raided the residences of Ghanshyam and Ranchhod and arrested them. While 237 notes were found from Ghanshyam's house, 110 notes were recovered from Ranchhod's residence," he said.
Meanwhile, in his interrogation, Ghanshyam confessed to having brought the consignment of notes from Naresh Patel in Surat. The notes were printed at Patel's house. Amreli LCB is planning to send its team to Surat to arrest Patel. Amreli LCB had seized counterfeit currency of Rs 1,000 notes worth Rs 3 lakh last year also.
