Fake cop extorts Rs 5L from businessman

Rajkot: A businessman from Gondal has lodged a police complaint against a man living in Rajkot for impersonating a policeman and extorting Rs five lakh from him by threatening to frame him in a rape case.
The complainant Keyur Patel (28) named Mihir Kungsia in the complaint lodged at the Gondal City B Division.
Patel (28) told the police that the incident took place on Dec 21, 2024, during a his visit to Rajkot for business payment collection. While he was returning from Limda Chowk, Kungsia, pretending to be an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mayursinh Zala of the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), stopped Patel and inspected his Aadhaar card.
Later that day, Kungsia visited Patel's office in Gondal and falsely accused him of molesting a girl in Rajkot. Upon noticing Rs 15 lakh in Patel's Google Pay account, Kungsia demanded Rs 5 lakh to drop the fabricated charges. Fearing imprisonment and public humiliation through false accusations of rape and molestation, agreed to give him the money.
On Dec 28, Kungsia contacted Patel again, demanding more money and threatening to defame him if he disclosed the extortion to anyone.
This is not Kungsia's first offense. He was previously booked by Rajkot's A Division police for a similar crime, where he extorted Rs 31,000 from another victim using the same modus operandi.
