PALANPUR : Aiming to do away with middlemen in issuing of driving licences, police and Regional Transport Office at Banaskantha awarded licences for two wheelers directly to around 250 students at a programme organized under Suraksha Setu initiative of the home department at Palanpur on Saturday.
"Well begun is half done. We are thankful to the local district administration for taking the problems of students seriously," said a student Haresh Chaudhary.
"The students are better informed and less likely to err while handling road traffic if they get their licence through the right channel," said Superintendent of Police DB Vaghela.
He said the students were asked to come at a specific time and obtain their driving licences.
" The special initiative aims at facilitating the students to get their licences without wasting time or resorting to help from middlemen," said in charge RTO JB Desai.
"We wish the same facility is extended to the employees too," said professor Shalesh Jaiswal who accompanied students.
