RAJKOT: Fight for Rajkot municipal elections reached its crescendo on Wednesday with the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Siddharth Patel releasing the election manifesto. The Congress party claims that if they are elected to power than there would be no new increase in municipal tax for the next five years and promised to provide water for 30 minutes daily throughout the year in the city.
The manifesto also stated that the party will will provide housing facility to those living in the slums.
Patel further said that Congress will make a development for the next 20 years and will work to make the city dust free. Also, those living below the poverty line will be given benefits like water supply, proper drainage systems, primary education and power supply among others.
The manifesto claims that Congress would rename the roads which BJP called 'Gaurav Path' to 'Rahul Gandhi Path'. The city will have a mass transport system for which CNG vehicles will be deployed to ensure smooth vehicular movement. Besides, 50 new primary schools will be added in next five years and the party will implement JNNURM project effectively and will form a committee to monitor it.
To get rid of stray cattle menace it will help cattle owners and rehabilitate them. Congress would also have a master plan prepared by experts for Kalavad, Gondal, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Morbi roads. There would be flyovers and underbridges so ease traffic congestion, said the manifesto.
