City girl bags top award for shooting

Rajkot: Tanya Morzaria, a class XI student of Rajkumar College, has been selected for the junior Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel award for her excellent performance in shooting at national level in the last four years.
Tanya, a national pistol shooter, will receive the prestigious government award in Gandhinagar on Monday.
"She has achieved a remarkable height in pistol shooting 25 m sport pistol and 10 m air pistol shooting events at the national level in last four-years.This award is given to a junior player based on selection procedure for the best performance in last three-years in various sports at national level. Tanya has won over 25 medals which includes 11 gold, three silver and 11 bronze at the state, zonal, pre-national and national-level competitions,'' said Pranav Morzaria, her father.
Tanya is at presently undergoing training for the 16th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial shooting championship and selection trials organised by National Rifle Association of India to be held at Thiruvananthapuram later this month.
