Vala had contested on the BJP ticket from ward 18 of RMC during the civic body polls that concluded recently, but lost.
In all, four persons were booked for showing adult material on cable TV in 1999. However, one of the accused Devendrasinh Jadeja died during the trail.
Those convicted were given 30 days to appeal against the court verdict, said B R Trivedi, assistant public prosecutor in the case. "The court sent the convicts to jail," Trivedi added.
According to Trivedi, police had carried out a raid at a house in Gunatitnagar in March 1999, and seized obscene film, video cassette recorder (VCR) and a television following which the four accused were booked.
