33-year-old teacher accused of raping class 10 girl arrested

Palanpur: The 33-year-old teacher, who allegedly raped a class 10 girl by threatening to fail her in the board exams, was arrested by the Himmatnagar (rural) police on Thursday.Atul Patel, deputy superintendent of police, Himmatnagar, told reporters, "We have arrested the teacher and the search for his friend, who is the co-accused, is on. The teacher's friend took the girl on his bike to the hotel where she was raped on Feb 7."The accused, who taught English and Sanskrit in the govt school, lured the girl on the pretence of his birthday celebrations at the hotel on Idar highway. He submitted a fake Aadhar card of a woman aged 25 or 26 years."We are investigating if he forged some Aadhar card and why the hotel's manager or staff did not verify the girl's age. As of now, we did not find any fake document, but we will question the hotel staff," Patel said.On Feb 7, the teacher told her that his friend would pick her up from near the school. He also told her not to mention this plan to anyone. Around 12:30 pm, she reached the hotel with the accused's friend, who waited outside while she went inside. Inside the room, the accused started making sexual advances. When she resisted, he threatened to fail her in the board exams and raped her, the complaint lodged by her father states.As the girl felt dizzy after the alleged sexual assault, the teacher told her to board a bus to Himmatnagar. On reaching there, the accused and his friend put her in a rickshaw and told her to go to the civil hospital.
