women of
Kondagaon
district have been honoured by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for their outstanding work in the field of food processing. The award was presented by Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, minister of state for MSME, for the manufacture of agricultural food products and promotion of women entrepreneurship.
MSME ministry organised the ‘Five Trillion Dollar Economy – Investment and Business Summit-cum-Awards’ programme in New Delhi on Monday.
As per officials of Chhattisgarh women and child welfare department, the women of tribal-dominated Kondagaon district have formed Udaan Mahila Kisan Producer Company, which manufactures and sells agricultural food products under the brand name Kondanar. There are 10 directors in this company and more than 30 women self-help groups (SHGs) are involved. These women SHGs manufacture more than 30 food items including pickles, chutneys, milkshakes, cookies, ‘Tikhurs’, coconut oil etc.

said that through this company, more than 200 tribal women have got regular employment and get a minimum salary of Rs7,500 per month. Meena said that Kondanar is becoming a popular brand in the country and across the world. The products of Kondagaon's Udan were also placed on the virtual platform of Dubai Expo. People from many countries showed interest in the products of this brand, the collector said.
Chief minister
Bhupesh Baghel congratulated the tribal women of the state and said that these women have become social entrepreneurs and a source of inspiration for many. Their dedication and perseverance has given a new identity to the traditional taste, Baghel added.
