Woman posts video on social media accusing several of harassment, dies by suicide
Raipur: A woman posted a video accusing several individuals, including a lawyer, a doctor, a temple priest, and a businessman, of harassing her and her daughter. She subsequently died by suicide at her residence in the Civil Lines area of Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh.The woman, identified as Priyanka Singh, wife of a railway employee, made a Facebook post and uploaded a video naming several people who allegedly harassed her and her family. She named these individuals along with their addresses, holding them responsible for her death.However, Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh and the investigating officer of the Civil Lines police station maintained that the woman appeared to have been suffering from a medical condition, which included anxiety. Her daughter said in her statement to the police that her mother had faced fears. Quoting her daughter, the SP said that the woman had once expressed doubt that some people were trying to set her ablaze following an electrical short circuit at her house. Sometimes, the woman would get afraid of hearing loud noises, the SP said while quoting her daughter, who was inside the house when the incident took place.Singh stated that all those named by the woman were prominent citizens, including a lawyer couple from the Chhattisgarh High Court, a doctor, and a couple of businessmen. However, the police were investigating all angles, including the woman's medical condition.The police became aware of a Facebook post around 6 a.m. on Sunday, in which it was revealed that a woman was planning to commit suicide. A team was dispatched to the location, where they found the door locked. Meanwhile, the woman's husband arrived and unlocked the door. Inside, the woman was found hanging from the ceiling. When questioned about her mother's suicide, the 22-year-old daughter told the police that her mother would sometimes get frightened when someone raised their voice.
