Teacher charged with molesting, raping minor student for months

BILASPUR: A teacher of a private school in a remote village Korea district has been charged with molesting and raping a minor girl studying in the same school for last several months. The survivor finally gathered guts and informed her family about her trauma. Her family came to police station on Sunday afternoon and lodged an FIR against the accused teacher, who is at large at present.

The incident happened at a remote village, Bhaiswar, under Sonhat block of Korea district in north Chhattisgarh. According to Sonhat police, the accused teacher is identified as Avishkar Minj, a resident of Jashpur.

According to the report lodged against him the accused had been molesting and raping a minor girl studying in the same school since January this year. He had also threatened the minor to not to say anything to anyone about the matter otherwise she would face dire consequences.

As a result the victim, who was earlier a cheerful child, became serious and withdrawn, informed her parents. When her family members noticed the change they asked her the reason for it. The survivor finally gathered up the courage and narrated her trauma to the family.

Her family members accompanied her to Sonhat police station on Sunday and lodged an FIR against the accused.

According to Sonhat police, apart from rape charges, a case under PASCO Act has also been registered against Avishkar Minj. The accused had fled the area and police are trying to trace him.
