State to revise noise law, report due by May 6
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh govt has informed the high court that it has set up a high-level draft committee and begun consultations to amend the Kolahal Niyantran Adhiniyam, 1985, as part of efforts to address noise pollution. Hearing a suo motu PIL, HC has sought a detailed progress report by May 6, as the state moves towards finalising the proposed changes.A division benchcomprisingChief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal noted that the state government has constituted a draft committee to examine suggestions and prepare draft amendments for the Act. This follows a high-level consultative process involving divisional commissioners,inspectorsgeneral of police, collectors, and superintendents of police.HC has now sought a progress report from the Chief Secretary before the next date of hearing.
