Speeding truck kills 2 bikers in Raipur; angry kin stage protest outside cement plant, demand action

Raipur: Two young men were killed after a speeding truck rammed their motorcycle in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district, triggering protests by grieving families and villagers who placed the bodies on the road outside a cement plant demanding compensation and action.The accident took place late Monday in Mandir Hasaud region, near Sarikhedi. Police identified the deceased as Golu Yadav and Raju Yadav, who were returning home after work.According to police, the two were on a bike Green when a speeding truck allegedly belonging to a cement company hit them with force. The impact was so severe that the bike was completely mangled and both riders were flung onto the road.Golu Yadav died on the spot, while Raju Yadav, who sustained critical injuries, succumbed while being taken to hospital.Locals rushed to the spot and alerted police and ambulance services. The injured were shifted to hospital, but could not be saved. The deaths left both families in shock, with relatives alleging negligence and reckless driving.Tension escalated on Tuesday as angry family members and villagers staged a protest outside the cement plant, placing the bodies on the road and demanding compensation and strict action against those responsible. Leaders from the Congress also joined the protest in support of the families.The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Police have registered a case and are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and trace the accused.Road safety is a concern in the Sarikhedi–Agrasen Dham Chowk stretch, where locals say speeding heavy vehicles and poor enforcement have made accidents frequent.Residents have demanded stricter traffic regulation, speed monitoring and increased police presence in the area to prevent further tragedies.
