Raipur boy wins bronze at nat’l fencing c’ship

Raipur: Class 4th student Vedant Singh from Raipur, the state capital of Chhattisgarh, ensured first individual medal for Chhattisgarh in the national fencing championship at Nasik for U10 and U12 boys and Vedant won five out of six matches in the pool round as he lost in one match to Maharshtras Vrat in a close fight by 4-5. In the knock-out round, Vedantlost the first match. In the next knock-out matches, Vedanta won by 15-2 over Jaggappa Dora of Andhra Pradesh, Shiriraj of Maharashtra by 15-11 to enter the quarter finals where he defeated Andhra Pradesh's Sakshi Babu by 15-5 in a one-sided match. However, Vedant lost semi-finals in a nail-biting fight by 14-15. tnn
