Pretending to be dead, teen survives brutal knife attack
Raipur: In a bizarre incident, a 13-year-old boy, despite getting stabbed multiple times, pretended dead to save himself from further attacks in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday. Later, he was rescued by locals when he called out for help and is presently receiving treatment.Bilaspur SP Rajnesh Singh said that the attacker youth was taken in police custody on Monday and he assaulted the minor over personal enmity.The incident took place in Masturi area when the teen boy was stabbed at least four times at an isolated location, where the accused, identified as Amit Bargah of Janjgir Champa district had drove him to. Covered in blood and gravely injured, the boy pretended to be dead. Convinced that the victim had died, the attacker dumped him in bushes and fled. Moments later, the child managed to crawl out and screamed for help.Local youths passing by rushed him to hospital. They informed the police and recorded statement of the boy. He told police that the attacker was a ‘known uncle' who suddenly turned on him because the boy had intervened when the accused was misbehaving with his sister.
"I acted as if I was dead to save my life," he said. Doctors said he is critical but stable.This incident comes amid a disturbing rise in stabbing cases in Bilaspur. The high court has already taken cognisance of 120 stabbing incidents and seven murders reported in the past seven months, while DGP Arun Dev Gautam recently directed officials to strengthen law and order.
