Droupadi Murmu on Friday emphasised the need for the use of modern technologies in the medical sector for the welfare of people, especially those living in remote areas of the country.
Delivering an address at the convocation ceremony at AIIMS Raipur during her two-day visit to Chhattisgarh, President Murmu stated that medical professionals carry immense responsibilities as they are supposed to save lives, and their decisions are linked to it.
Highlighting the integration of advanced technologies, such as AI, to improve community health services, especially in distant regions, the President said, “I came to know that AIIMS Raipur has been working on an AI-based clinical decision support system, which will then provide assistance to doctors in remote areas in real-time emergency situations.”
Emphasising the devotion needed in the medical profession, President Murmu urged medical practitioners to effectively handle their emotions and uphold human values when providing patient care.
The President conveyed her joy and contentment while attending the second convocation ceremony at
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur on Friday. She congratulated the graduates and extended wishes for their prosperous future. President Murmu commended the faculty members for their unwavering commitment and assistance in cultivating the new generation of medical professionals.
President Murmu distributed gold medals to 10 students of AIIMS Raipur during the convocation. Around 514 students were awarded degrees. Highlighting Raipur AIIMS' accomplishments, she acknowledged its initiatives in combating
malnutrition and offering sickle cell treatment through organised camps.
She added that modern technologies largely impact human life, and several steps were taken to provide advanced healthcare services in the last 10 years. The number of medical colleges, AIIMS, and seats for MBBS and PG (post-graduate) also increased, she added.
Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka expressed his admiration for AIIMS Raipur's successes, pointing out its 38th NIRF ranking in 2024 and the resilience necessary in the medical field. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai celebrated the historical importance of the event and the President's attendance, highlighting the govt's dedication to expanding medical infrastructure in the state, particularly benefiting tribal communities.
President Murmu is also scheduled to attend the convocation at NIT Raipur at 3 pm on Friday, and IIT Bhilai and Ayush University on Saturday. President Murmu will visit the Jagannath Temple in Raipur on Saturday and will also attend the convocation of IIT Bhilai and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Memorial Health Science and AYUSH University Nava Raipur.
