PM transfers Rs 2044 crore to 5L PMAY beneficiaries’ accounts
Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday transferred Rs 2044 crore as the first instalment under PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) directly into the bank accounts of over 5.11 lakh families in Chhattisgarh, for construction of pucca houses under the scheme.Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai with his cabinet ministers marked their presence at the ‘Mor Awas – Mor Adhikar' (My House – My Right) programme organized in Raipur on Tuesday. PM Modi virtually participated in the event. While transferring the first instalment, Modi affirmed that his govt has always aimed at bringing happiness and ease into the lives of the poor and the weaker sections of society. "Over the past ten years, significant success has been achieved in fulfilling this objective," Modi said.During the event, keys to the newly-built homes, along with certificates of completion, decorative door adornments, and religious materials, were also handed over to over 23,000 urban families.CM Sai emphasized that food, clothing, and housing are the most basic needs of a person, but even decades after independence, many citizens across the country do not own a home. Through PMAY, the dream of providing homes to homeless families is being realized, he said. "Out of 32 lakh approved houses across the country, nearly 30% have been allocated to Chhattisgarh – a significant achievement for the state. After assuming office, our govt prioritized the approval of 18 lakh PMAY homes. Today, PM Modi has transferred the first instalment to the accounts of 5.11 lakh beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh," Sai said. CM urged that the state govt is dedicatedly working towards the implementation of this scheme and any negligence or irregularity in its execution will not be tolerated. He warned that if any complaints, even for misappropriation of a single rupee, arise in implementation of PMAY, action will be taken against the respective district collector.Assembly Speaker Raman Singh said, "Today marks a historic day for Chhattisgarh, bringing a new ray of hope to the lives of the homeless in the state. The promise that was made has been fulfilled. This is a significant step toward social justice and equality. In past ten years, the central government has constructed 4 crore houses, bringing a transformative change in the lives of the poor. In the Prime Minister's third term, three crore new houses have been approved, further strengthening the scheme."
