Pico satellite made by Chhattisgarh-Odisha students to be launched on Independence Day
RAIPUR: As many as 75 students from Chhattisgarh and Odisha participated in Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission 2023 workshop organised in Dantewada’s Jawanga, the education city of Bastar.
Recently this program, under which 150 Pico satellites are being launched through rockets together, was inaugurated by the Governor of Telangana, Dr Tamilisai Sundararajan.
In this sequence, a one-day workshop on satellite and rocketry was organized by state-run Astha Vidya Mandir English Medium School Jawanga which provides free education to children who have lost their parents in Maoist attacks in Bastar.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation general secretary Milind Chowdhary said that on the occasion of the country's 75th Independence Day, a Pico satellite rocket made by a total of 75 students from the states of Chhattisgarh and Odisha will be launched, whose standard will be registered in World Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records, Assist Book of Records.
Its full details will be handed over to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Workshop organizer Chhattisgarh and Odisha state coordinator Amujuri Biswanath said that Dantewada is the first district in the country from Chhattisgarh where maximum 75 students are participating in Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission 2023 at free of cost. District education officer Pramod Thakur and principal Gopal Pandey were present.
Pico-satellites are satellites at a mass below 1 kg, implemented by use of modern miniaturization techniques. They offer interesting potential to perform in-orbit tests of software and hardware components in a cost efficient way.
The Foundation in association with the Space Zone India - Chennai and Martin Charitable Trust is presenting the milestone project titled Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Satellite Launch Vehicle Mission 2023”. This mission will integrate 5000 students from colleges and schools (from Grades VI to XII) across the country to learn on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and to enable them for designing and developing 150 number of PICO Satellites and these 150 Pico satellites will be launched through the sounding Rocket on on February 19 from the Pattipulam village of Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu.
