NSUI & Hindu outfits protest, remove film poster from theatre

Raipur: Memebers of Raipur unit of NSUI, student wing of Congress, staged a protest at a mall in Raipur against ‘Adipurush’ on Sunday.
In Bastar, members of a Hindu organisation removed the movie's poster from outside a theatre in Jagdalpur on Sunday and submitted a memorandum to the district administration and police, setting a deadline of June 21 to ban the screening of the movie in all theaters in Jagdalpur.
A protest was also held in Chhattisgarh's Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district on Saturday demanding a national ban on screening of the movie 'Adipurush' which protesters claimed is a conspiracy against Sanatan dharma. A handful of members of ‘Korea Sahitya Avam Kala Manch’ reached a complex in Manendragarh town and staged a demonstration in front of a theatre screening the movie.
Manch member Anamika Chakraborty, who led the protest, said the name 'Adipurush' itself is misleading. “The film is based on Ramayana and Lord Ram was 'maryada purushottam' not 'Adipurush'. This film is sending a very wrong message to society and misleading our young generation. This movie is a plot against Sanatan Dharma,“ she alleged and demanded that screening of this movie be stopped in the country immediately.
Chakraborty alleged the manner in which the characters of Ravan and Lord Hanuman are portrayed in the movie was shameful. The movie ‘Adipurush’ has faced criticism on social media for its poor visual effects (VFX) and colloquial dialogues. Writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla has come under fire for Lord Hanuman's dialogues in the 'Lanka Dahan' sequence, among others.
On Saturday, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel slammed the movie ‘Adipurush’, labeling it an attempt to tarnish the image of Lord Ram and Hanuman. He questioned why political parties that claim to be custodians of religion remain silent on this matter. The chief minister condemned the objectionable dialogues in the movie and stated that his government would consider a ban if the people demanded it. He also called for action against the film's makers and blamed the censor board for clearing the movie. TNN& AGENCIES
