Now, Kondagaon farmers to get seeds and fertilizers in their villages

: Farmers residing in remote and inaccessible villages of

Kondagaon district

will no longer have to travel long distances to procure seeds and fertilizers.

Tikam has instructed the administration to make available the seeds and fertilizers in local distribution centres in remote villages. Earlier, farmers had to make it all the way to the Lamps Distribution Centres, often located at a distance of over 10 to 15km from their villages. In addition, most of the farmers do not have any access to vehicles and proper transportation facilities, which makes it difficult for them to load the sacks and bring them back to their villages.

The Lamps Distribution Centres are located in Mardapal, Kivaibalega Badedongar, Iragaon and Farasgaon. Now, the local centres will be available in remote villages like Matwal, Hadeli, Kudhur, Bayanar, Chingnar, Bhongapal, Hatchapai, Bade

Odagaon

, Kanagaon, Kuemari and Badekhauli.

Now, in addition to the main distribution centres, the seeds and

fertilizer

distribution has been taken up in all the Lamps distribution centres, which include local grocery shops and common services centre through the Lamps committees. The farmers have to only produce the required documents including Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and a photo, said department officials.

Recently, the farmers in remote areas were provided with seeds and fertilizers at nearby centres. Assistant Director (Agriculture) Balasingh Baghel, assistant registrar (Cooperative Societies) K L Uike and nodal officer Faiz Mohammed were present on the occasion.

The farmers, who do not have credit cards, can submit their applications for the same at the local centres. Most of the farmers still have not taken up membership of the even the Lamps Distribution Centres. Due to this, they could not avail of zero per cent interest loans and paddy support price.
