Raipur: The ‘Nijaat’ campaign — a drive against drug peddlers and de-addiction, that gained momentum after it was first launched in Koriya district by IPS officer Santosh Singh as an SP, has been selected among the 30 best practices on smart policing by Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPRD) — an agency under Home Ministry. BPRD is carrying the select best initiatives taken by the police offices across the country.

Singh is now continuing the campaign in Rajandgaon district since he is posted there and not only preventing people in deaddiction, but also tightening the noose around drug peddlers and counselling as well rehabilitating those who need help.
The boards, banners, posts are all up in the villages and the regions most affected and needs ‘Nijaat’ (riddance) from the addiction of any kind.
Santosh Singh said that over 6362 liters of liquor worth Rs 9140548 was recovered in the action taken in past four days, besides, mo rehtan 405 kilograms of cannabis seized worth 20.3 lakh. He said that addiction is like a social evil that spreads and needs to be rooted out as it affects life of people and destroys families attacking them with crisis of all sorts. Those approaching for help, are counselled or sent to rehabilitation centers and in serious cases are sent to hospitals for medical treatment.
