Movies under stars, Tibetan food and bonfire... Welcome to Mainpat

RAIPUR: Movie screenings under the stars, authentic Tibetan food and bonfire - welcome to the Mainpat Mahotsav. The three-day event will begin from Saturday and aims to promote tourism at hill station Mainpat also known as Mini-Tibet, because of Tibetan settlements and resembling scenic beauty.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel will be the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony, while culture minister Amarjeet Bhagat and other dignitaries will also be present.
Various adventure sports including para sailing, sailing, zoomering, rappelling, trekking along with a grand kite festival and state level cycle race are among the main attractions of the festival.
A cultural evening will also be held during which famous artistes like regional actor Padmashri Anuj Sharma, Bhojpuri singer Alok Kumar, Bhojpuri star Akshara Singh will perform at the cultural event.
A mass marriage programme will be organised on Saturday by women and child development department under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. The food zone will serve authentic Tibetan cuisine, among others.
The collector has instructed forest department officials in this regard.
Famous films will be screened for the tourists. Indicators will be placed at designated places including food zone, parking lots, washrooms and drinking water for the convenience of public. A police assistance centre will be established at the venue of the festival to provide necessary security to the people. Stalls of other departments including Health, Women and Child Development, Agriculture and Horticulture will be set up at the festival site, so that people will get information about various schemes of the government.
To encourage tourism in Mainpat, 15 buses will be operated from Ambikapur divisional headquarter to Mainpat during the festival.
