Woman Maoist involved in attacks on forces surrenders
Raipur: Five Maoists, including one carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh, surrendered in Dantewada district in Bastar on Tuesday.
Police said that the Maoists were fed up with the Naxal lifestyle and ideologies, which did not influence them anymore and they felt more inclined towards the state's rehabilitation policy.
About 185 Maoists have surrendered this year while 411 have been arrested.
Those who surrendered on Tuesday include Sushila alias Bujji who served as area committee member and had joined the organization in the year 2009, in the children wing of Maoists and then worked as militia member in 2013.
She was mainly involved in firing on police party and security personnel in Jan 2018 in Mutvendi village, and in gun battles with police in Pidmil, Jingaon, Simepalli between 2018 and 2019. She was active till 2023. Others were low rank militia members.
