Justice Arup Kumar Goswami takes oath as CJ of Chhattisgarh high court

Justice Arup Kumar Goswami took over as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh high court on Tuesday. Governor Anusuiya Uikey administered oath of office to Chief Justice Goswami at Raj Bhawan in the afternoon.

RAIPUR: Justice Arup Kumar Goswami took over as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh high court on Tuesday.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey administered oath of office to Chief Justice Goswami at Raj Bhawan in the afternoon.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, his cabinet colleagues — including legislative affairs minister Mohammad Akbar, home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, food minister Amarjeet Bhagat and school education minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam — former CM Dr Raman Singh and Raipur mayor Eijaz Dhebar were among those present on the occasion.

Judges, officials and advocates of the high court were also present.
Born in March 1961, Justice Goswami has served as Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh high court and Sikkim high court.
An alumnus of Cotton College, Guwahati University, in 1981, he obtained his LLB from Government Law College, Guwahati, in 1985 and later practiced in civil, criminal, constitutional and service matters.
He was nominated as senior advocate by Gauhati high court in December 2004 and appointed additional judge of Gauhati high court in January 2011. He became a permanent judge in November 2012.
