RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh conferred Indian Police Medal on Sonal V Mishra for her excellent services on the occasion of Independence Day on Monday. She is the first woman IPS officer in the state to receive the coveted medal.
An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 2000 batch and a domicile of Chhattisgarh, she completed her primary education in Jagdalpur. She pursued engineering in electronics from National Institute of technology (NIT) Raipur and completed M Tech from IIT, Kanpur.
During her posting in Tamil Nadu, Sonal Mishra played a commendable role in crime control and maintaining law and order in Trichi, Krishnagiri, Erode and Chennai. She has also served the special information bureau (SIB).
At present, she is posted as deputy inspector general of police (administration) at police headquarters in Naya Raipur.
