11 AIIMS-Raipur students join 3 CG Air Squadron NCC
Raipur: In a significant event, 11 MBBS and BSc nursing students from AIIMS-Raipur, were inducted into the prestigious 3 CG Air Squadron NCC on Friday in Chhattisgarh capital.
This initiative marks the inclusion of one of India’s distinguished medical institutions into the National Cadet Corps, emphasizing the convergence of healthcare and national service, officials said.
The ceremony was held at the AIIMS Raipur auditorium and was graced by Lt General Ashok Jindal (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, Director and CEO of AIIMS Raipur, and Brigadier D K Patra, Group Commander, NCC Group Raipur.
Dr Krishnadutt Chavali, Dean (student welfare), said that 71 students (59 nursing and 12 MBBS) had applied for the Air NCC program. After a rigorous selection process, 11 students, including six from Nursing and five from MBBS, were selected, including nine women.
The newly inducted cadets were officially welcomed into the 3 CG Air NCC Unit during the badge presentation ceremony, marking their formal commitment to leadership and service.
Lt General Ashok Jindal (Retd), in his address, stated, “The inclusion of AIIMS Raipur into the NCC fold is a historic milestone. This partnership will instill discipline and leadership qualities in our students, preparing them to serve society and the nation with greater zeal and dedication.”
Brigadier D K Patra said, “It is a privilege to induct AIIMS students into the NCC. Their participation as future healthcare leaders strengthen the bond between professional excellence and national service.”
The initiative places AIIMS Raipur among a select group of premier institutions collaborating with the Air NCC, symbolizing a harmonious blend of academic excellence and service to the nation, officials said, adding that it creates a cadre of disciplined and service-oriented healthcare professionals who are committed to leadership and national service.
