In Raipur, man kills 23-yr-old girl with knife and then jumps in lake
Raipur: A 23-year-old girl was killed when a married man slit her throat, then jumped in the Telibandha lake and was rescued by SDRF in Chhattisgarh capital on Monday.
He had slit his hands too and jumped in the lake with an intention to kill himself, police suspect.
The duo worked at separate private food joints located opposite to Telibandha lake, while the man's wife also was a co-worker. According to preliminary information, the duo was in relationship and had a hot talk over an issue when the accused saw her talking to another man.
Police said that the accused wanted to live with his wife and have a relationship with the girl as well but the girl had objected to this idea of his. Police said that the accused Lokeshwar Tarak, 25, approached the girl in the
basement of the building they work at and while arguing, he took out a knife and attacked her on her neck, with an intention to kill her.
The girl was severely injured in the attack and locals rushed to help her while theman fled the spot and ran towards the lake to jump. The girl was rushed to hospital in critical condition where she died during treatment.
After jumping in the lake, the accused swam to the middle of the lake and climbed the base of the fountain. A team of SDRF was pressed on duty amid hundreds of people gathered at the location, and the man was rescued and caught by the police.
