Collector of Balod district on Thursday banned government schoolteachers from using mobile phones in classrooms. During a review meet, collector Ranu Sahu said, regular monitoring will be done to ensure that the rule is being implemented.

RAIPUR: Collector of Balod district on Thursday banned government schoolteachers from using mobile phones in classrooms. During a review meet, collector Ranu Sahu said, regular monitoring will be done to ensure that the rule is being implemented. Disciplinary action will be taken against the teacher found to be using cell phone during class.
Teachers using cell phones is a distraction for students and the no-mobile-phone in-class rule will be applicable from the upcoming session.

The collector also said that a new period will be introduced in school, in which the students will be able to ask questions on subjects they are interested in. Focus would also be given on the attendance and punctuality of teachers, which will be recorded digitally, she said.
The collector also reviewed issues like teachers’ problems, mid-day meal operations, uniform distribution, caste and residence certificates, scholarships among others.
She directed the revenue officials to run a special campaign to issue all the necessary certificates to the students of Class 6 to 12, adding that text book distribution should also be finished by the end of this month.
The officials were also instructed to pay special attention to the maintenance or repair works pending in schools, in addition to ensuring availability of drinking water and clean toilets in schools.
