Raipur: Girls outshine boys in the higher secondary examination, conducted by Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education. 73.43% of more than 2.77 lakh students passed the Class 12 examination. Pass percentage of girls was 75.83% while pass percentage of boys was 71.19%.
Shubham Bakshi from Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Rajkishor Nagar, Bilaspur, topped the examination with 97.60%.
Sudhanshu Tiwari from Career Point World School, Bilaspur and Rantidev Rathod from Naila-Janjgir got second rank with 97%.
Three students shared third rank with 95.80%. Shreya Shukla from JR Dani School, Raipur, Ayush Pandey of Saraswati Shishu Mandir School Raipur and Gaurav Devangan from Government Higher Secondary school, Bastar, secured third position. Releasing the results on website, school education minister Kedar Kashyap said more than 2.77 lakh students, including 1, 33,553 girls, appeared in the examination. More than 2.02 lakh students passed the examination of which 47,088 students passed in first division.
As many as 1,06,461 students passed examination in second division and 48,164 students were declared successful in second division. More than 33,000 students will have to appear for supplementary examination. As per state government rules, 1,381 students fetched bonus marks for their participation in sports, NCC, Scout Guide and NSS. State governor Balramdas Tandon and chief minister Raman Singh congratulated the students who were successful in the state board higher secondary examination.
