Ghosh reinstated as Cong gen secy

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Congress’ state in-charge Kumari Selja on Thursday reinstated Ravi Ghosh as general secretary of party’s state unit as oppose to a decision made by state Congress chief Mohan Markam.Signalling a tussle months before state assembly polls, a decision of appointing Arun Sisodia as general secretary, taken by Mohan Markam was changed within a week on Thursday.The party functionaries were in a meeting chaired by Selja in presence of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and other cabinet ministers at CM’s residence when a letter was issued addressing Markam. The letter stated that the decision of appointing office bearers on June 16 for the state Congress committee was cancelled with an announcement that Ravi Ghosh will hold the post of general secretary. Markam had assigned new responsibilities to few functionaries including Amarjeet Chawla being appointed as the general secretary for Raipur city, NSUI and Youth Congress, Chandrashekhar Shukla for Mohla Manpur, Pratima Chandrakar as Rajnandgaon in-charge and Yashwardhan Rao as general secretary training in-charge. On Thursday, Selja cancelled all the appointments.Markam had replaced Ghosh with Sisodia and was given the charge for Bastar on June 16. He said that until the new list of in-charges is released, the functions of the party would go on according to the list issued on June 16. He said that the division of work keeps changing and until the new list is issued, the latest in-charges would be effectively working.Opposition BJP snapped on the issue and national vice president Raman Singh said that Selja was controlling the functions with a remote control and there was no discipline in the party. “Selja’s order on Thursday is an insult to tribals of Chhattisgarh. Earlier, they had problems with pictures of Markam on posters and now from the decisions he takes,” Singh said.
