Former Chhattisgarh high court judge appointed chief justice of Rajasthan

RAIPUR: Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, the senior-most former puisne Judge from the Chhattisgarh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
The vacancy in the Rajasthan High Court arose due to the elevation of Justice Augustine George Masih to the Supreme Court. Consequently, Shrivastava, who served as a Judge in the Chhattisgarh HC from 2009 to 2021, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan HC upon the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Judge Sanjiv Khanna, and Judge V R Gavai.
Justice Shrivastava was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh on December 10, 2009. He was transferred to the Rajasthan High Court on October 18, 2021, and is currently functioning as the acting Chief Justice.
Before his elevation as a High Court Judge, Justice Shrivastava practiced law at the district court in Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, and the High Court of Chhattisgarh. His areas of practice included Constitutional, service, taxation, labor, and civil law. He was also designated as a Senior Advocate by the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
Regarding his judicial contributions, during his tenure of over 14 years as a High Court Judge, he has authored more than 505 reported judgments. He has gained substantial experience in dispensing justice in two High Courts.
In considering his appointment, the collegium also took into account the fact that the High Court of Chhattisgarh, his parent High Court, does not have any representation among the Chief Justices of the High Courts.
