RAIPUR: An FIR was lodged against Sitapur Congress MLA, Amarjeet Bhagat at Batauli police station in Surguja for using indecent language against state education minister Kedar Kashyap and Surguja collector Ritu Sain.

Bhagat on Saturday sparked controversy during a protest march for saying, "Our Surguja collector looks beautiful but is never seen working." He continued attacking and remarked that he had never seen anyone as "baruha" (mad) as education minister. Known for his frequent slip of tongue at public places, Amarjeet Bhagat was protesting along with others at NH-43 leading to chakkajam on the Sitapur-Batauli route.

BJP supporters were on streets to protest against Bhagat and lodged an FIR on Monday as the comments went viral on social media. A BJP leader and district panchayat's vice president, Prabhat Xalxo lodged a complaint and then FIR.

Talking to TOI, Batuali inspector showed resistance for divulging details about the FIR but confirmed that it was lodged primarily because of disrupting traffic on the highway without permission and using indecent language.

An FIR was lodged under Sections 188, 341, 294 and 506 of IPC.
