Raipur: ‘Godaan', touted as the first-ever film centred on ‘Gau Mata', will be made tax-free for audiences, chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced while launching its trailer at his official residence in Raipur.
Sai said his government was committed to the "protection and promotion" of cattle, pitching the cow as a symbol of spiritual reverence as well as "economic and scientific" value. He said the state had stepped up support for cattle shelters (gaushalas), including raising the per-cow fodder grant from ₹20 to ₹35 and providing financial assistance of ₹25 lakh each to gaushalas.
The chief minister also spoke about the setting up of ‘Godham' to house and care for stray cattle. Stressing the need for wider public awareness around cattle conservation, the CM said organic manure made from cow dung was the base of organic farming, and cinema could help carry ‘positive messages' to a larger audience.
Produced by Kamdhenu Film Productions, ‘Godaan' is slated for a nationwide theatrical release on February 6. Producer-director Vinod Chaudhary was also present at the trailer launch.
