A family from Bilaspur, in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, has accused two police officers of harassment and assault. The incident reportedly occurred when the family was hosting an engagement ceremony, and the police allegedly barged into the home without any prior warning. The family members objected, and the situation became chaotic. The groom's family left the venue without performing the engagement rituals, and the neighbors and other locals started gathering at the location. The police called for additional force, and the family members say that the police officials pulled the hair of the women and misbehaved with women. The family also alleges that the police "snatched away" their mobile phones when they tried to record the event. The police claim that they had received an input that Suresh Lahre of Billiband village was selling illegal liquor at the weekly market, and that he was hiding it at his shop and home. The family has demanded an action against the police. Bilaspur SSP Parul Mathur said that an investigation was being done in the matter by ASP Rural Rahul Dev Sharma.
