: To spread voter awareness among residents of Maoist-hit
Jashpur district
, a campaign - Jash-Pran - was organized on Monday.
Over 3,000 farmers of the district participated in the campaign. They also took out a rally on their
tractors
to spread the message on importance of voting.
District electoral officer and collector Dr Priyanka Shukla administered oath to all the farmers to vote for the upcoming polls. The farmers pledged that they will exercise their franchise and also motivate 10 other people to vote as well.
Mock polling stations were set in villages, where the residents were taught how to use the electronic voting machines (EVM) and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT). The residents practised voting in the mock polling stations.
A cultural program was also organized at the end.
